BRANDING IN ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION
We have our winners! The jury had a tough time selecting the top contenders from the pool of incredibly talented students, but after careful deliberation, we are thrilled to announce the 7 recipients of the full architecture scholarships.

With over 350 applicants showcasing their remarkable skills and creativity, the competition was fierce, and the quality of submissions was truly outstanding. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the following individuals who have secured their place as the deserving winners:

Each of these talented individuals has been awarded a FULL course fee scholarship as part of the "Branding in Architecture" competition funded by the Ministry of Culture and Youth, UAE. To all the exceptional runners-up, we want to acknowledge your remarkable talent and passion. Although you may not have secured a full scholarship, there is still an opportunity to receive a PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP from ECA, further recognizing your outstanding potential. Keep pushing the boundaries and pursuing your dreams - you are all winners in your own right!

WHO CAN APPLY: All students of any nationality, currently studying art, design, architecture or engineering at any university in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Majid Al Bastaki
Majid Al Bastaki is a creative and technically skilled architectural engineering student and professional architectural photographer specializing in capturing the essence of architectural spaces in the UAE. As an architecture student, Majid combines his passion for design and photography to explore the interplay between form, function, and aesthetics in the built environment. With a strong understanding of architectural principles and a dedication to excellence, Majid's work reflects his commitment to both the art and science of architecture.
Through his photography, Majid not only showcases the beauty of architectural spaces but also offers a unique perspective on the evolving urban landscape of the UAE.
Jasim Hilal Alnaqbi
Jasim Alnaqbi, a design management professional recently graduated from the American University of Sharjah, possesses a strong passion for creativity and innovation. With an aptitude for design thinking and strategic problem-solving, Jasim seamlessly merges design principles with business strategies. Alongside his academic achievements, he has built an impressive freelance portfolio, collaborating with diverse clients and professionals to develop impactful designs.
Equipped with comprehensive knowledge of design theories and industry trends, Jasim is driven to push the boundaries of innovation and shape the future of design management, making a significant impact in the modern world.
AlZaina Ahmad Lootah
AlZaina Lootah is a graduate from the American University of Sharjah holding a degree in architecture. Throughout her education, she developed an interested in building a study that deeply connects to the development of her hometown and engages stories about her ancestors.
Her philosophy is directly related to the idea of architecture as a craft that adopts to program, culture and context while providing a language that reflects the human beliefs and behaviors.
Moufida Mohideen
Moufida Mohideen is an emerging interior architect and designer, currently pursuing her Bachelor's of Interior Design at the University of Sharjah. Having grown up in the UAE for 18 years, and being brought up in Sharjah, she has always been surrounded by a rich sense of art and culture and finds inspiration from the environment and experiences that surround her. Interested in biophilic design and biomimicry, she enjoys exploring new materials that uphold the values of environmental and cultural sustainability.
She is also the winner of the Van Cleef and Arpels Middle East Emergent Designer Prize 2022 for her sculptural book stand 'Ascension' made using reclaimed Damas wood and Mother of Pearl that narrates a home grown tale of the Arabian desert.
Zakia Faiz AlAmeri
My name is Zakia Alameri and I am an architecture student with a passion for design and a keen eye for detail. Throughout my academic journey, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to the field and a drive to excel in all aspects of my studies. I've engaged in various design projects, participated in architectural competitions and workshops, and volunteered with community organizations. I am determined to further explore sustainable design practices and innovative technologies to address contemporary challenges. I'm excited about the future opportunities and challenges and is committed to continuously pushing the boundaries of architectural excellence.
Salma Hani Mubarak Ali
Salma Hani is a third-year architecture student at the American University of Sharjah. She is a highly motivated and active member of the architecture scene, participating in competitions,
conducting research, visiting architectural sites, and attending talks. Salma is deeply invested in the future of architecture and approaches it with a critical view of the past. Her interests extend beyond the conventional boundaries of architecture, as she is also fascinated by the study of AI- narrated architecture. Moreover, Salma is intrigued by the architectural forms in Sudan, and her analysis of them from a modern, contemporary, social, political, and theoretical perspective is
insightful and thought-provoking. With her passion for architecture and keen analytical skills, Salma is poised to contribute significantly to the field.
Dana Bassam Bidoun
Skilled designer with a M.Sc. in Architectural Engineering. A combined experience in architecture and graphic design. Over 5 years of experience in designing F&B outlets and developing efficient kitchen layouts, and over 10 years of experience in graphic design and brands creation. Have research contributions in architectural branding and place-making.
ABOUT the COURSE
The course takes its inspiration from the buildings and projects of the 16th Century architect Andrea Palladio, who became so recognisable for his individual style and his manipulation of balance and harmony within volumetric space, that he is regarded as a brand design strategist of universal influence, creating an architectural brand in his time that is still relevant today.

  • FATIMA HUMAID ALSUWAIDI
    ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER OF HERITAGE AND ARTS, MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND YOUTH, UAE

    Fatima graduated with an MSc in conservation management of cultural heritage from the University of Sharjah. Her research focus is on the architectural development and conservation management of modern heritage in UAE in general, and Dubai in specific.
  • Dr. AHMED AGIEL
    ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING AT THE UAE UNIVERSITY.

    Doctor Agiel obtained his PhD from the University of NSW, Australia, before working at the University of Tripoli, Libya. He has a master's degree in strategic design, from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. His research focuses on architectural theory and practices with specialisms in the meaning of architecture and environmental psychology.
  • UNIVERSITY COLLABORATIONS MANAGER
    Alan is in charge of university partnerships at ECA, building from his work in multi-agency
    collaborations as Executive Director of the b-side festival and Arts Development Officer for
    the Maritime Mix Cultural Olympiad at the London 2012 Sailing Events.
